Visual Studio Help is also known as MS Help 2.0. Originally this help format was intended to be the successor of HTML Help. However, Microsoft then postponed its release indefinitely and it is now clear that it is never going to be released as a help format for normal user applications.
You cannot view or create Visual Studio Help files unless you have Microsoft Visual Studio 2002 or later installed on your computer. Visual Studio Help is now only used for documenting add-on components designed to be integrated into the Visual Studio .NET programming environment.
This section provides a very brief introduction to publishing Visual Studio Help with Help & Manual. If you want to use Visual Studio Help you need to be experienced in VS.NET programming, otherwise you shouldn't even think about using this help format. In addition to this you should also study the relevant Help 2.0 documentation in both VS.NET and the Visual Studio Help Integration Kit (VSHIK, check the MSDN site for details) very carefully.
Support for Visual Studio Help/MS Help 2.0 is only included in the Professional version of Help & Manual.
