Help & Manual 6 includes more extensive use of the new MS Office Ribbon and other interface elements than previous versions of the program. These interface components have also been updated to more closely match the Office 2010 versions.
You can now multi-select in the Open dialog to open multiple Help & Manual projects at the same time. Use Ctrl+Click and Shift+Click to select multiple files. |
Many found the old File menu in the top left corner confusing. It has been replaced with a File menu that is much more intuitive. The items in the new File menu use a new dynamic interface called "backstage view" that is more informative and intuitive. |
This may look like a small improvement but it can significantly speed up working and formatting in the editor. |
Hovering the mouse over selected text displays the Popup Formatter, with which you can apply formatting and styles quickly. |
You can now switch back and forth between the main topic editor and the XML Source tab without losing your editing position. |
You can now mix bullets and numbering, applying bullets or numbering to single levels. List styles that you customize are now saved with your project and reloaded automatically for the next editing session. |
You can now sort the contents of tables on any column in the table. You just need to click in the column for sorting and then select the sort command in the Table tab. See Sorting tables. |
When you paste images from Word or other programs an automatic dialog is displayed prompting you to save the image as an external file. This prevents your project getting bloated with accidentally created embedded images. |
Every paragraph style you create can now also include an assignment for the "Next" style. When you press ENTER in a paragraph the new paragraph is automatically formatted with the "Next" style assigned. This is very useful when you are creating headings, for example. |
In addition to a number of new preset line spacing options you can now specify any line spacing you like in both manual formatting and style definitions. Want 1.25 or 3.68 line spacing? You got it! In addition to this, the Ribbon paragraph spacing tools now include Space Before and Space After options. |
