WEBKIT_TOCRESIZE_BUG

Settings:

workaround

block

fixed

Controls how the bug in WebKit browsers (Google Chrome and Apple Safari) that breaks the TOC Show/Hide button is dealt with.

Settings:

workaround

This makes the TOC pane fixed width in Chrome and Safari and leaves the TOC Show/Hide button enabled. This is the default setting.

block

Enables the TOC pane to be resizable in Chrome and Safari but hides the TOC Show/Hide button.

fixed

You can set this if the bug is ever fixed, then the behavior in WebKit-based browsers will be the same as all other browsers.

CHROME_WARNING

Settings:

true

false

Google Chrome has a controversial new security feature that blocks JavaScript references between frames. The way this feature is implemented breaks WebHelp when it is displayed locally without a web server. The dynamic TOC will not work in Chrome when viewed locally.

This warning message actively checks for the presence of the bug and will automatically be disabled if the problem is removed in future versions of Chrome, which would be a very good thing...

Settings:

false

No warning is displayed.

true

This is the default setting. Displays the following warning when the user opens WebHelp in Chrome on a local computer without a web server:

HELP SYSTEM ALERT:

This version of Google Chrome blocks cross-frame references in a way that is not compatible with HTML standards. This feature makes Google Chrome unable to display this WebHelp help system correctly when loaded directly from a local computer drive without a web server. Please use a different browser to view this help from this location.

This version of Google Chrome will display the help correctly when the help is stored on a web server.

IE_LOADBUGFIX

Settings:

true

false

In rare instances Internet Explorer fails to align the TOC properly when the help is first loaded in WebHelp, and the first entries in the TOC are not visible. If you or any of your users experience this problem just set the value of this configuration variable to true. This will reload the TOC once the first time the help is loaded in Internet Explorer, which eliminates the problem.

Note: It is likely that this problem is caused by interference by commercial anti-virus programs. Now that the free and excellent Microsoft Security Essentials is available these programs are no longer necessary. You can free up a lot of system resources by removing these bloated tools and replacing them with the free tool from Microsoft.
