1.Select the Table of Contents section in the Project Explorer and click on any topic. The imported data will be inserted at the end of the TOC. You can move the imported topics later.

2.Select Import in the File menu.

3.Select the format you want to import, then follow the instructions displayed.

You can also import external files as entire topics, which you do by creating an entire topic. This works for Help+Manual XML, HTML, Markdown, RTF, plain text and RVF files.

1.Create a new empty topic or select a topic that you want to overwrite.

2.Select File > Load Topic from File in Project > Manage Topics and select the file you want to load. You can import HTML, RTF, RVF, TXT files and Help+Manual XML topic files.

If you have the Professional or Floating license version of Help+Manual you can load topics from other projects directly provided the projects are saved in uncompressed XML format. Then you just select them in the /Topics folder of the other project.

You can use the Snippet tool to insert entire topics, formatted text saved as XML snippet files, or external HTML, Markdown and PDF files in your topics.

You can also cut, copy and paste topics directly between projects in the Project Explorer. Just open both projects in the Explorer and then use the Clipboard functions in the Ribbon to cut, copy and paste entire topics and chapters between the Table of Contents sections of the projects. See Moving, cutting and pasting topics for full details.

If you drag an RTF file into the Help+Manual editor window the contents of the file will be inserted directly at the drop position as formatted text.

This currently only works with RTF files and image files, which are inserted directly as images. All other file types are inserted as file links when you drop them.
