Screenshots are always created in a new document in a new tab. To add it to an existing image, just copy and paste it after editing.

You can scale and rotate bitmap images directly with the mouse. They have the same handles for this as shapes.

•Use the handles to scale and rotate the image.

•The corner handles maintain the aspect ratio

•Hold down CTRL to resize around the image center point

•Hold down SHIFT to resize or rotate in fixed increments

When you select an image in your picture the Quick Format tools for images are displayed in the Formatting Pane on the right:

Borders and drop shadows

These apply a variety of border and drop shadow styles with a single click. You can change the colors and styles here with the Themes menu. You can also define your own borders and shadows with the Outlines, Opacity and Shadows tools further down in the panel.

Change shape

Changes the shape of the image with a single click. Any shadows will then be applied to the shape.

After you've been using SnipSVG for a while, you will notice that it's possible to apply a shape to an image and also to fill a shape with an image background. The result can look almost identical, so you may ask yourself what the differences are:

•An image can also have image effects applied

•An image cannot have its own text box

•Images can be physically resized and cropped

•A shape cannot use the image effects available for bitmap images

•Cropping does not apply for shapes and their resizing is always lossless for the shape portion

•A shape always has a text box that can be activated

If you have multiple elements in an image, one or more may be covered by other elements. In SnipSVG you can still edit even a completely covered element without having to move other elements out of the way. This is done with the Find Element... option in the Edit menu.

1.Select the Find Element... option in the Edit menu.

2.Select the name of the element you want to edit.

3.Edit normally.

•This also works for editing text — you just select the edit icon in the top right corner.

•Similarly, to crop or edit a bitmap image, select the edit icon in the top right corner.

•All global operations on the element can be performed even if it is completely covered. Selecting it like this temporarily moves it right to the top for editing.
