Did you know that you can insert an SVG image into another SVG image?
The SVG format allows nesting. This is a pretty cool feature, because you can add SVG icons to your pictures. Most SVG icons are just drawings and therefore very small. SnipSVG fully embeds additional SVG icons into the SVG images it creates.
Embedding SVG icons into your own image
1.Download icons in SVG format from reliable sources and save them locally on your computer.
2.In SnipSVG, click the "Insert Picture" button and select the SVG icon from your disk.
3.If the website lets you copy the SVG code to the clipboard, you can simply paste the SVG code with CTRL+V or CMD+V.
4.Tip: Animated SVG images are supported as well!
Copy and Paste from Websites
Many icon websites let you either download the SVG image as a file or copy the content to the clipboard. If the clipboard contains text starting with "<svg", SnipSVG consequently attempts to paste the code as SVG icon.
Sources for SVG Icons
There are plenty of download sites with huge collections of SVG icons. Here, we list only those that specialize in the SVG format and offer most of their content as free source for commercial use, without tricks and strings attached.

All of the websites above allow you to search for icons and download them to your local drive in SVG format, without registration and without payment. But not all icons are entirely free. Some do require attribution, some are free to remix with a new image, some are more prohibitive. Please check the license of the individual icon, before you integrate it into your own image!
